HONG SEH GROUP
54th anniversary
Hong Seh prides itself for being a trusted and knowledgeable resource within the luxury automotive industry. Originally known as Chop Hong Seh in 1936, the father-and-son team of Alfred and Edward Tan, has led the company and evolved from its beginnings of selling plastics and chemicals, to luxury cars and rentals today.
Alfred Tan
In 1966, Alfred Tan joined Hong Seh as a Sales Manager and worked alongside his father and uncle to help expand the company’s chemicals and plastics retail business. In 1982, Alfred Tan played a pivotal role in securing the Ferrari car dealership under the Maranello Concessionaires and franchisee of National Car Rental, the world’s largest car rental organisation, paving the way for Hong Seh’s entry into the luxury car market — thus creating Hong Seh Motors Pte Ltd. With a fervent passion for cars, Alfred has spent over 40 years amassing a collection of his favourite cars; his ride of choice now is the Tesla Model 3 Performance as the automotive scene evolves towards green technology of electric vehicles. Alfred is also an avid photographer and has indulged in his hobby for over 50 years, specializing in scenery, cars and people photography.
Edward Tan
For the past 20 years, Edward has been responsible for building the Hong Seh brand, directing local marketing and promotional efforts. He has been with Hong Seh Motors since 1997, upon his graduation from the University of Denver and served as the Executive Director of Hong Seh Company from 2000. In 2008, Edward started Hong Seh Marine to diversify the business. Today, the Marine division of Hong Seh Company is proud to represent the biggest and most iconic yacht builders in the world – Ferretti Yachts, Riva and Pershing. Edward has a strong passion for cars and races the Maserati Trofeo in his free time. His other passions include watches, fine dining, golfing, photography and boating.
